A shift in the right direction

Salam ceria Year 6 parents.... Thank you for your active participation during the "UPSR Motivasi" talk by Hj Hushim Salleh last Saturday. I was certainly emotionally-moved during the session and I hope you went home feeling uplifted in some ways.

How's your children doing...did you see any positive changes? I'm seeing some positive changes in my daughter...she arrived home after the motivasi, took shower and locked herself up in her room. 2 hours later she came out and said "Dad, I just finished 200 questions from the Nexus Bahasa activity book". In the past, it usually took me a few minutes of yakking to get her just to lift the activity book. I certainly hope she can sustain this. For the past 3 days, she has been averaging 80 questions a day, and also finished Year 4 Science topic by topic questions from the Nexus book as suggested by Puan Tan Tee Chooi. Share your experience, pose your questions in this blog: It's by us for us !

On the Jiran Sekampung, the following folks have volunteered to start the ball rolling and will be contacting each other. Hopefully they will pen-in a few words to share in this blog:

Go ahead, ask a question, throw-in a comment...more often than not, your comments are probably stuff that others are thinking about - lets hear about it.

At the same time apa jua maklumat berkaitan PIBG boleh juga disalurkan di sini.

Ini hanya cadangan sahaja. TQ

Terimakasih En Mohd Noh,

Ceria selalu....

Salam and selamat sejatera to all

Congratulations for the opening of this blog and also the efforts of PIBG and SKTTDI2 for the motivation session. Wouldn't love to see more comments eventhough I myself am very busy. Nevertheless, I enjoy reading and blogging too. SKTTDI(1)dok buat apa tu, teroponglah sikit. We should know what they did to their students sampai 60plus(fact betul ke?) students dapat 5As last year. Even way back in my kampong in Penang (Balik Pulau) 30 of them got 5As. So, I guess we should do better this year after all these years..

Hope the children are studying the right way and the teachers are guiding and helping them to their best. Good luck and hope for the best. When are we doing solat hajat?

Regards
Faridah Aryani

Salam to all.

Sorry for the late reply (better late than never) but congrats for getting this blog started. We agree with the comments made by the other parents about trying to get to know apa yang other schools are doing, especially those yang scored very well in the last few years.

Other than that, our comment is that we should also concentrate on the younger generations to come as the build up is equally important as those who are actually sitting for their exams this year. This action may be dealt with later after the UPSR this year - perhaps we can group together over, say, teh tarik and strategise over the next years (may only be relevant to parents with other kids still in this school)

Back to the UPSR-bound students, the few critical things to be done are (we guess) latih tubi, review of past exam scores - intervensi & diagnosis to check on the weaker subjects and do more work/revision on those subjects. We propose 2 levels of attack - overall 'weaker' subjects for the whole of the Std 6 students and those specific to individual students. We think the latter would be more relevant because we need to beef up the weaker subjects of the individuals. Bottom line is that the effort has to come from both, teachers and parents.

Alamak, cerita panjang pulak but this is our 2 cents worth and comments from the other parents are most welcomed.

Well .. it is something for us all to ponder actually. I can safely say that ALL parents biggest concern is the overall preparations of our children. As for my case, I know my kid can get the job done. He's really a bright kid. It's just that he ws not concentrating/focus well enuff. But it'll be a diff situation when he's around his close friends in tutions with the teacher in front. That's why I was thinking that if we could get them in small groups to study important subjects like Math/Science in either the school library or the DBKL library itself with the teacher overseeing it and guide them occasionally.

But that's just me ..qsdmmnl
