TQ. A"

Thank you for bringing this matter up, I mean about road users who ignore the ‘No Entry’ signs and the one-way traffic system in front of the school. It is not as if the ‘one-way’ is for the whole day long, it is only just for the short periods as clearly stated on the sign boards!

Only yesterday I noticed some drivers ‘coolly’ passing through, at around 1pm, in the opposite direction meaning they ignored (or don’t recognise) the NO ENTRY sign. This blatant disregard for regulations, just as people not queuing up or worse still jumping queues, infuriates me to say the least. If they have no business to be there near the school, they should jolly well find another route. Say that will cost them more petrol – well, how about us parents who obediently abides by the system (even though no one is standing by the ‘no entry’ sign) who inconveniently go full circle because of the one way road when fetching our children at lunch time. Of course there also parents who feel they are the exceptions to the rule - they CAN go against the traffic because it is beneath them to go round just like all the ordinary ‘peasants’ driving small cars…

Personally I don’t mind taking turn to stand at the No Entry sign to make sure no one drive through during the specified time. Perhaps if the PIBG can come up with some suggestions as to how parents and teachers can co-operate to deal with this problem.

As for the suggestion of having a CCTV at the school gate or guard house, I think it will hardly be of service nor will it solve any problem, not even that of the children crowding around the ice cream man just as they came out after school. Are these children not being taught anything at all in Civic these days? They do not queue up to get on their school buses and I see rubbish flying out the windows as the bus drives off. Are we not concerned about what sort of citizens our children are going to be when they grow up?
