Science project vs. Revision/Self Learning

Puan F today sent SMS to me and hilited the need/priority of Science project/presentation (6 to a group, with topics ranging from eclipse, waste management, endangered species, acid rain, etc.). Would it be better for the students to concentrate on intensive revision with 2 more months to go.

I suggested that Puan F clarify with Puan Tan if the Science project/presentation is a UPSR requirement (ie. PEKA which is Pass or Fail in UPSR result slip). If not a requirement, can the priority be focussed on studying. If it is indeed a requirement, can this be done earlier for next year's UPSR so that it doesn't encroach too near to the UPSR dates.

If you have comments or insight on this matter, let us know. It will help other parents prioritize to make the best use of the remaining 2 months. Remember, sharing is caring!

Hi All
Muzakir and Team, congratulations for all of your efforts plus this too!!!
I feel there should be intense focus for the next two months on relevant UPSR subjects only. In facts, others subjects or even irrelevant materials within the relevant subjects, should be deferred for now.
There is no harm emulating others in just focusing on the 5 core subjects from now on. Other performing schools have been doing this for a few months already. My tots!!!

Thanks Ruzlan for your comments. I'm of the same opinion that anything outside the requirements of UPSR should be deferred to place priority on group or individual revision. Pn F has confirmed that the science projects are for PEKA; and as such, we parents should try to help our children so that they can finish off the project asap and concentrate on revision. The AJK will suggest in the next meeting (prob in 1-2 weeks time)to complete next year's science projects at least 3 months before UPSR. Others, do you know if there are other activities at school that may interfere with UPSR revision and how do you suggest to handle?

I do believe that most parents are really concern on the Science & Math subjects. Most of us are spending much of the budget on the tuitions of these subjects. So far the best solution that I can think of is to do a group studies at the nearby library. But kids nowadays are having a hard time to keep the concentration of doing the latih tubi questions unless under supervision. Not like in our days maybe.

If they can be split into a few groups with parents and teachers together doing the supervision at the library maybe ?

I don't know where to post a new comment. It's about the heavy beg for 6 Tekad on Tuesday or wednesday(I cannot recall. My daughter mentioned that she just need to take out a book on music and puts in many Science books. Can I ask Ms Tan to tell them what books in particular should be brought for that particular day. It very heavy and I pity my daughter carrying up to 3 rd floor when I only help her to carry to the door sometimes. Or also for the rest (not only Science)of other subjects because I am sure many topics have been covered and some books could be left at home for revision. Just my 2 cents comments.
Thank you
